What’s Doing?
Fit Kids Playground will be hosting its first Fit Kids Unplugged Fun Run this summer. Bring the kids down to Curtis Hixon Park in Downtown Tampa for an afternoon of healthy activities and snacks, and a cool kid’s run. Distances will vary according to age, and all runners wear #1. Participants will also receive a Fit Kids Unplugged T-Shirt and a Fit Kid Fun Bag, and will be presented with an official Finisher’s Medal after crossing the finish line.

Even Better! Cool off in the park’s interactive water fountains (don’t forget a bathing suit, towel and sunscreen), or inside Glazer Children’s Museum, which will be offering $2/person admission from 2-7 p.m.

What’s Doing?
WestShore Plaza will be the place for little princesses and princes to hang out this weekend as the mall kicks-off their new kids club – connect!kids.

You and your children are invited to the Disney On Ice Rockin’ Ever After event at WestShore Plaza on May 11. Kids are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Disney princess, prince or pirate for a magical parade through WestShore Plaza to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Children will get to decorate wands and eye patches for the princess and pirate walk. There will be a balloon twister and games with Radio Disney and WQYK. Plus, you’ll have a chance to win one of 50 family four-packs to Disney on Ice!

What’s Doing?
Croc Encounters is currently under renovation. As each section of the park is completed, it will open to the public. You can get a sneak peek each Saturday during “Sneak Peek Saturdays,” which offers guests a special up-close, personal look at areas of the park as they are finished, as well as a preview of what’s coming.

Now open is the first phase, which includes tortoises, some small reptiles, and the Crocodilian Loop, where guests can see a variety of crocodiles and alligators up-close.

Future sections will feature lizards, large snakes, turtle ponds and more large alligator exhibits.

What’s Doing?
Spend a morning with your little one. During MOSI’s early education programs for parents and their preschoolers, you can learn some kitchen science, explore the life-cycle of butterflies, and discover the mysteries of space.

Preschool Science class schedule:
— March 19 or 23: Nutritious & Delicious — Create a cold vegetable pizza, make a fruit work of art, or design and name your own trail mix. Take recipes home to make delicious nutritious snacks for your family when they get the munchies.
— April 16 or 20: Measure & Mix — Make predictions about your ingredients and test them out when you put them together.
— May 7 or 11: Flutter by, Butterfly — Get transformed from egg to caterpillar to butterfly, try to drink nectar like a butterfly, and visit the butterfly garden. You’ll even take home your own caterpillar, and watch it become a butterfly.
— May 21: Starry Skies — Learn the difference between planets and stars and listen to the stories behind constellations.
