St. Pete Walmart Neighborhood Market Grand Opening: A Big Family Welcome

Disclaimer: The information below was provided by Mitchell Communications Group on behalf of Walmart. I received no compensation in return for posting this information, nor am I in any way affiliated with Walmart or the Walmart Foundation. I am sharing this information with you because it is of interest to families in the Tampa Bay area, and because Walmart is hosting a Family Day Celebration as part of their Grand Opening festivities, which families may wish to attend.

Walmart will open the new Walmart Neighborhood Market in Midtown on Wednesday, January 29, after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7 a.m. The new store, approximately one-quarter the size of a Walmart Supercenter, is located at 1794 22nd Street South in the Tangerine Plaza and will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week and offers groceries, including fresh produce and pharmacy services. The store will also employ up to 95 full- and part-time associates.

Community Giving
The grand-opening celebration includes presentations of $8,000 in grants from Walmart to local community groups.

In addition to the grants given as part of the grand opening, the new store will further Walmart’s pledge to fight hunger in America. As part of Walmart’s and the Walmart Foundation’s $2 billion commitment to fight hunger through 2015, Walmart stores in Florida donated approximately 26.8 million pounds of food, in fiscal year 2013, or the equivalent of 22.3 million meals. Additionally, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation gave more than $53.6 million in fiscal year 2013 in Florida alone. Read more about Walmart’s fight against hunger.

DID YOU KNOW? The first Walmart Neighborhood Market opened in 1998, and today there are approximately 300 Walmart Neighborhood Market stores nationwide.
