First timers will receive a FREE IKEA Tampa Kids’ Academy T-shirt to wear whenever they attend an IKEA Tampa Kids’ Academy event. If it’s your child’s first time at a Home Depot Kid’s Workshop, they will receive a FREE orange Home Depot apron to wear, keep and bring back each time they attend. Upon completing the project, they will receive an achievement pin to add to their apron and a certificate of completion. (NOTE: Home Depot crafts are unfinished when you complete them at the store, so they will not look like the picture until you add your own paint. Some Home Depot stores are offering paint at the location to paint your project on the spot. Paint is optional.)

If it’s your child’s first time at a Lowe’s Build and Grow Workshop, they will receive a FREE Lowe’s apron and goggles to wear, keep and bring back for each time they attend. Upon completing the project, the child participating will receive a certificate and embroidered patch to add to their apron. Lowe’s projects are typically plain with the Lowe’s emblem printed on them somewhere. Some even come with stickers for the kids to decorate the masterpiece!

PBS stations nationwide will air the marathon (check local listings), and kids will also be able to engage with The Cat in the Hat and friends through games and video content online and on mobile. We’ll explore how with maps, compasses, GPS’s and a “sense of direction.” You can find your way where YOU want to go! With fun hands on demonstrations and applications of ancient and cutting edge technology, we will figure out where we are and how to get where we want to go. The Stories We Tell (3-4 p.m.; Riverview Branch Library) Let’s share stories! All cultures around the world have stories and fairy tales that they share with one another. We will explore these traditional tales with fun activities, great music, and creative crafts.

Three Wishes on a Magic Fish (7-7:45 p.m.; Temple Terrace Public Library) Listen to the tale of a Japanese fisherman who catches a magical fish. He is granted three wishes in return for letting the fish go free. The fisherman and his wife think they will always be happy once their wishes are granted – but sometimes what we wish for is not what we need. After the tale, audience members will make Origami fish puppets to take home. Presented by Bits ‘n’ Pieces Puppet Theater.
