What’s Doing?
This annual Labor Day festival kicks off on Friday night with carnival rides and games. The event continues on Saturday night with an evening of family fun and a fireworks finale:

What’s Doing?
City of St. Petersburg Parks and Recreation and the Civitan Club of St. Petersburg will host this annual end-of-summer event at Lake Jorgenson. The event kicks-off at 9 a.m. by honoring Dennis Crenshaw, a former high school teacher and advocate for youth outdoor recreation activities. The Fish-a-Thon officially begins at 9:30 a.m. with 9-to 15-minute fishing intervals. Prizes will be awarded throughout the event at the end of each fishing period.

NOTE: Everything is provided for the contest, including cane fishing poles and bait. Personal fishing equipment is not allowed. Close-toe shoes and sunscreen are strongly suggested.

What’s Doing?
Bring the kids to the Armed Forces History Museum to interact with a variety of military vehicles and see presentations and drills by WWII reenactors from the 1st Infantry Division.

At 11 a.m., Michael V. Ralph, historian and artist of “Titanic – A Voyage in Art” will present the history of the Titanic. Ralph’s exhibit of 27 original acrylic paintings has been extended through August 27, 2012. The presentation is free with the purchase of a museum admission ticket.

Even Better! The Bloodmobile will be on-site from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and visitors who donate blood will receive complimentary admission to the Museum.

Critical to the success of this mission is the restoration and preservation of this National Historic Landmark, an opulent 1891 railroad resort, and the artifacts significant to its history, and the life and work of Henry Bradley Plant. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sundays from 12-5 p.m. (Closed on Mondays, Thanksgiving and Christmas.)
