What’s Doing?
Tampa Bay’s ultimate spinning event led by Tampa Bay’s top spin instructors and hosted by the Tampa Bay Rays will take place under the tent on Saturday to benefit PlaySmart, a non-profit organization that helps at-risk kids achieve their academic and life potential through sports. Spin for an hour or two, or join the 100-Mile Club and spin for a whopping five consecutive hours!

Participants can catch Tampa Bay Rays baseball players spinning and signing autographs, plus Raymond and the Rays Street Team. All riders will receive:
— BBQ lunch and “energy” drinks (Note to parents: FREE beer will be available to participants 21+ during this event)
— Kid’s activities
— Music
— Silent Auction
… and more!

Even Better! All riders will also receive a commemorative T-shirt, gym bag and gifts, and a chance to win prizes.

FREE (Or Almost FREE) Crafts for Kids: December 2012

If your kids are anything like ours, they love to make crafts. And us parents, love FREE crafts … or at least really inexpensive ones! There are so many opportunities for your kids to make crafts each month. Just take a look at what’s going on in December.

If it’s your child’s first time at a Home Depot Kid’s Workshop, they will receive a FREE orange Home Depot apron to wear, keep and bring back each time they attend. Upon completing the project, they will receive an achievement pin to add to their apron and a certificate of completion.

(NOTE: Home Depot crafts are unfinished when you complete them at the store, so they will not look like the picture until you add your own paint. Some Home Depot stores are offering paint at the location to paint your project on the spot. Paint is optional.)

If it’s your child’s first time at a Lowe’s Build and Grow Workshop, they will receive a FREE Lowe’s apron and goggles to wear, keep and bring back for each time they attend. Lowe’s projects are typically plain with the Lowe’s emblem printed on them somewhere. Some even come with stickers for the kids to decorate their masterpiece!

In observance of World Food Day, there will also be a collection of canned and boxed food at the event. Donations will benefit the St. Petersburg Free Clinic’s Food Pantry and Northside Benevolence Ministies.

Funds raised through this event will benefit charitable projects of the St. Petersburg Junior Woman’s Club, a non-profit volunteer organization committed to serving the community through hands-on projects and fundraising as well as leadership development.

2012 Tampa Bay Area CureSearch Walk: Enjoy a Fun Family Day in Support of Children’s Cancer Research

CureSearch Walk T-shirt (Back)

There is no minimum amount that you must raise in order to participate in the walk (beyond the walk fee). However, walkers who raise $100 or more will receive an official CureSearch Walk T-shirt.

Time: Registration opens and pre-walk activities begin at 9 a.m.; The Radio Disney Road Crew will be on-site from 9-11:30 a.m.; Opening Ceremony and Walk: 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Date: Saturday, September 29, 2012
Location: South Straub Park
Cost: Walk Fee: $10/adult (Age 16+), FREE/child (Age 15 and younger); Donations support CureSearch for Children’s Cancer; Registration is required! Everyone participating in the walk needs to register and sign a liability waiver. You can register online prior to the walk, or visit the Registration Table on walk day to register and sign the liability waiver. Although there is no walk fee for children, they do need to be registered by their parents online or at the walk.

What’s Doing?
Join Radio Disney AM1380 Road Crew to celebrate and honor children from the Tampa Bay Area who have been affected by cancer. All festivities will take place in South Straub Park with two walk loops around South and North Straub Park. In addition, the day will include music, food and fun activities for the whole family to enjoy.

NOTE: Wheeler chairs, strollers, wagons, etc. are welcome.
