What’s Doing?
Join the YMCA of the Suncoast for this national YMCA event celebrating health in spirit, mind, and body. Bring the whole family for:
— Fun activities
— Giveaways
— Nutritious snacks
— Interactive play for children and their parents

Each branch has its own exciting plans for the day. For example, Bardmoor is expecting a visit from the Chick-fil-A cow with giveaways for the kids, Citrus County is combining their event with the Sheriff’s Youth & Safety Expo, Clearwater is offering FREE Icees to the first 100 kids, James P. Gills Family is hosting a kids fitness challenge, Jim & Heather Gills YMCA is hosting a Kids’ triathlon that starts at 9 a.m., North Pinellas has a K-9 demonstration, Hernando County has a fire truck for kids to explore and FREE t-shirts for the first 100 kids, and Palm Harbor has Minute-To-Win-It games. 2012 Pinellas County Fair

Teens Behind the Scenes

Teens Behind the Scenes FlyerTime: Sessions: 2:30-4:30 p.m.; Awards Night: 6 p.m.
Date: February 22, 2012; March March 21, 2012 & April 18, 2012; Awards Night: April 24, 2012
Location: Meet on-site at various County government locations; The February session meets at the Criminal Justice Center
Cost: FREE and open to all high school students ages 14 years old and older, but registration is required

What’s Doing?
Teens Behind the Scenes is a new program that gives teens an exclusive look at the inner workings of Pinellas County government. Each month kids visit a new location to learn about a different area of county government. This program is open to all high school students ages 14 years old and older.

Session Schedule
** NOTE: The January 25 session has already passed **
— February 22: Law & Order: Investigate the roles of law enforcement, prosecuting attorneys, defense attorneys, and the judge.
— March 21: Most Wanted! Tour the Pinellas County Jail to learn about intake, maximum security, and direct supervision. (NOTE: A parental release is required to participate.)
— April 18: 9-1-1 101: Get an up-close look at the Pinellas County Emergency Medical System and participate in a demonstration.

Awards Night
On the evening of April 24, teens will have the opportunity to appear on television with county commissioners as they present the teens with a “Teens Behind the Scene” completion certificate.

Pinellas County Youth Advisory Committee (YAC)
The Pinellas County Youth Advisory Committee is comprised of high school students who provide input and assistance to the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners. For more information on the YAC, visit www.pinellascounty.org/yac.
