What’s Doing?
The 2011 Bicycle Bash will be a fun day for families to celebrate bicycling and enjoy music at Flatwoods Park, where both road bicyclists and mountain bikers enjoy riding. A swap meet, activities for kids, and fun bike activities will be going on throughout the festival. The event will also include a bike gear giveaway, a BikeSmart education class, legal advice on bicycle issues, and All Children’s Hospital will hand out and fit children with FREE bicycle helmets.
Attendees are also invited to ride in the “Buckhorn Bash Ride” (11:15 a.m.), a 7-mile loop bike ride led by Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn.
Even Better! The Taco Bus and other food trucks will be on-site as well, to provide a variety of food options for purchase.
SWFBUD (South West Florida Bicycle United Dealers) — a bicycle store alliance made up of 11 Tampa Bay bike shops — puts on the Bicycle Bash every year to promote and celebrate bicycling in Tampa Bay. Cure on Wheels is the presenting sponsor of this year’s Bicycle Bash, and Hillsborough County is a co-sponsor. The Cure on Wheels ride will be held on November 5, also at Flatwoods Park and just one day before the Bicycle Bash.
