What’s Doing?
Investigation Station‘s “From the Sun to Pluto” exhibit is now officially open in Starkey Wilderness Park, featuring artwork by Gordon Engebretson and fun facts about each solar body by Michelle Cordeiro. Learn something new about our solar system while biking or hiking this one-mile long exhibit.

This unique 5/10k, sponsored by San Francis Veterinary Hospital, takes you through the solar system. Bring the kids to play in beautiful Starkey Park while mom and/or dad run, or, have the entire family run. There will be a Kids 1-Mile Fun Run in which all participants will receive a finisher ribbon. All proceeds from this event will help Investigation Station, The Traveling Children’s Museum.

Even Better! Complimentary refreshments will be served after the races including donations from Panera, Smoothie King and fresh fruit compliments of Wells Fargo Advisors

The Tampa Bay Rays Host Spin for Kids 2013

What’s Doing?
Tampa Bay’s ultimate spinning event led by Tampa Bay’s top spin instructors and hosted by the Tampa Bay Rays will take place under the tent on Saturday to benefit PlaySmart, a non-profit organization that helps at-risk kids achieve their academic and life potential through sports. Spin for an hour or two, or join the 100-Mile Club and spin for a whopping five consecutive hours!

Participants can catch Tampa Bay Rays baseball players spinning and signing autographs, plus Raymond and the Rays Street Team. All riders will receive:
— BBQ lunch and “energy” drinks (Note to parents: FREE beer will be available to participants 21+ during this event)

What’s Doing?
Are you familiar with the Stevie Mac’s Gourmet Sauces? On the heels of their success, Stevie Mac’s has opened a restaurant on North Reddington Beach, featuring Florida-Caribbean cuisine and their all-natural sauces. Kids meal options include a Taco Dog (a turkey hot dog with cheese and lettuce wrapped in a flour tortilla and served with corn chips) and a Chicken Taco. (Check out Stevie Mac’s menu on Urbanpoon.)

On January 19, Stevie Mac’s restaurant will be hosting Yappy Hour, an event you can bring not only your family to, but also your pooch, with proceeds benefitting the Suncoast Animal League. There will be live music, food and beverage specials, auctions and raffles. Visit the Ask-a-Vet Booth hosted by Dr. John P. Mead, DVM from Sandy Paws Veterinary Clinic (3-5 p.m.), and mingle while the dogs play in the dog park and walking areas behind the restaurant.

NOTE: Dogs need to use their best “table manners” and be attached to a human with a leash.

(The winner will be announced at the Chamber Business Expo March 15 & 16, 2013).

Meet Honorary Mayor Candidate Pam Oakes at Pizza Villa as she hosts a “Thank You” to Pizza Villa customers. Santa will be greeting families and visiting with children between 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Plus, children age 12 and younger will get a FREE slice of pizza and a drink. When we saw her at Traditions on the Green, she mentioned there would be face painting, too.
