10th Annual Flan Fest … Come Celebrate Flan!

What’s Doing?
Forty contestants will compete for the title of Top Flan in Tampa Bay. Judging will take place at 12 p.m., and winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m. At 2 p.m., there will be a Flan Walk & Eating Contest. There will be Flan sampling, shopping and entertainment throughout the day. Sample some traditional — and some not-so-traditional — flavors of flan.

Traditional Cherokee Dances and Songs at Moccasin Lake Nature Park

Time: 1-5 p.m.

What’s Doing?
Ryan and Dawni Mackey will present traditional Cherokee dances and songs at Moccasin Lake Nature Park, followed by a game of social stick ball. In social stick ball, the men play the women, but the women do not use ball sticks. The game will be adjacent to the park’s entrance gate. If you intend to play, you may want to bring shorts or sweatpants, a t-shirt and athletic shoes. If you’d rather just watch the game, bring lawn chairs.

The event will also include a pot luck meal. If you bring a dish to share, you will be given a ticket to attend the potluck meal. Water, plates, utensils and napkins will be provided by the Cherokees of Central Florida. If your last name begins with letters A-H, you are asked to bring a main dish; I-Q are asked to bring a vegetable or salad; and R-Z are asked to bring a fruit plate or desert.
