Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce Annual Kumquat Festival LogoJoin in the fun at “The Times is Right” Game Show, check out the beautifully decorated storefronts as Downtown Merchants compete in the Kumquat Festival Merchant’s Window Decorating Contest (Judging will take place from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on January 25), and tour a kumquat grove and packing house during the Kumquat Growers annual Open House during the weeks leading up to Festival day. Then on January 26, celebrate the best of Dade City, FL during their 16th Annual Kumquat Festival!

What’s Doing?
The Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce presents this FREE pre-Kumquat Festival event featuring fun family entertainment before the game show, which is a take-off of the popular “The Price is Right.” Here’s the event schedule:
— 10 a.m.: Entertainment — Live music, balloon artist and The Yo-yo Man
— 11 a.m.:Game Show — Here’s how it will work: Attendees whose numbers are randomly drawn will be called to the front to compete in a trivia quiz for the opportunity to advance. The trivia questions will be based on general content from the main sections of the Tampa Bay Times between the dates of January 13-18, 2013. Quiz winners will be be invited on stage to compete in a game for prizes.
— 11:30 a.m.: Final Showcase — Individual game winners will move to the competition for a grand prize package.

NOTE: There is a maximum capacity of 500 people. Only adults age 18+ are eligible to win games and prizes. Affidavits must be signed the day of the event in order to secure possession of the prize.

Even Better! The Miss & Mr. Kumquat Festival Pageant will also be held at Calvary Assembly of God Church at 3 p.m., with check-in beginning at 2 p.m.)

The Kumquat Growers packing house 2013 Open House will feature talks by Roger Swain, host to “The Victory Garden” on PBS for 15 years; kumquat jelly and marmalade, kumquats and fresh squeezed lemonade samples; and tours of the packing house and grove.
— Roger Swain presents “Champion of the Kumquat”: 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. (CHANGE TO ORIGINAL SCHEDULE: Unfortunately, Roger Swain will not be able to attend this year.)

What’s Doing?
As many as 40,000 people attend the one-day Kumquat Festival each year to enjoy all kinds of tasty kumquat treats, from kumquat pie to kumquat cookies, smoothies, ice cream, marmalade and even kumquat salsa. Visitors can listen to local entertainment, get their face painted, browse antique cars, shop for unique arts and crafts items, and bring the kids to play in the Kiddie Corral (kids area).
