As Tampa Bay area parents brace for the Republican National Convention to take over our city for a week, increasing commute times and making some of our favorite play areas all but inaccessible, you may find yourself wondering … what’s in it for us? Well, we did manage to find something kids and parents can enjoy during the RNC! Head over to Bilmar Beach Resort in Treasure Island, FL and check out the patriotic sand castle display on the beach.

What’s Doing?
Using a reported 30 tons of imported sand, giant sand sculptures of President Abraham Lincoln, the Lincoln Memorial and the White House are being created in honor of the Republican National Convention in Tampa. The display is scheduled to be completed Aug. 26 and will remain on display until Sept. 17.
