Pioneer Florida Museum’s Workingman’s Holiday (formerly Pioneer Days Labor Day Festival), an annual Labor Day event, celebrates the opening of the Museum’s grounds in 1975 with a day filled with fun for the whole family. A special feature this year will be old-fashioned games, including corn toss, horseshoes, tug o’ war, and three-legged races. There will also be Bluegrass music performed live by the Barking Dogs and gospel music in the Enterprise Church, traditional craft demonstrations, a BBQ chicken dinner served from 12-4 p.m., the opportunity to view the museum’s historic buildings and the collections on display, and more.
Here’s the schedule for the day:
— 9:30 a.m.: Opening Ceremony and Flag-Raising
— 10-11 a.m.: Fiddling Contest (Part 1)
— 11:15 a.m.: Raid on the Overstreet House
— 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.: Fiddling Contest (Part 2)
— 2 p.m.: Raid on the Overstreet House
