What’s Doing?
the recent success of the Tampa Bay Lightning has sparked an interest in hockey around the community that isn’t just limited to the ice — youth roller hockey is also getting its share of interest. United Skates of America and USA’s Skateplex are hosting FREE “Try-it” Clinics for ages 4-17. The clinics are designed to let kids “be a hockey player for a day” and help them decide whether or not they want to play roller hockey.
The Clinics will offer age-appropriate groups running drills and playing mini-games. Bring a hockey or bicycle helmet and any hockey related equipment you may have. A limited amount of equipment will be available for those without.
If during the Clinic kids decide they want to play in the facility’s roller hockey program, they can sign up at USA’s Skateplex. The program is open to boys and girls ages 4 to 17. The summer camp costs $99 and lasts from June until August. The cost includes the drills, games, and the weekly instruction from coaches, plus an end-of-season awards banquet and free admission to select public skating sessions the rink offers throughout the summer.
